I just got a 302 with #4 dial and all matching dates from early 1938, except for the I-1936 celluloid dial, the 1937 condensor, and a newer handset and cord and newer parts to the card cover.  The handset is dated 4-55 but the elements are dated 37 and 38.

Sarge that 1938 302 is awesome!  Thanks for the pictures.  Please excuse my California language.

I like the early metal 302s.  Sure they don't polish up at well as the plastic 302s but I just like them for the history.
