AE Dial Face Plates

For the two AE dials pictured (one with a metal finger wheel and one with the clear plastic finger wheel with the screw in the center), are the face plates for these dials interchangeable?

In other words, if I have a dial with a really nice face plate and the older style metal finger wheel, can I use a newer dial that has the clear plastic finger wheel, and install the older face plate on it?

Sorry if this is an elementary question, but I'm a Western Electric guy.  Thanks!

The dial faceplates will interchange but the fingerwheels might not.If you remove a one piece plastic fingerwheel and the hub on the dial is aluminum and round, the metal fingerwheel will not work if it is the old style without the dimples.

Great.  So, just to make sure I understand:

I probably need to keep the finger-wheel with the dial guts.  But either face plate should install correctly on either dial guts.

Did I state that correctly?
