Title: WE plus "E" what is it?
Post by: TelePlay on October 13, 2017, 02:38:03 PM
Just snagged this off of eBay. BIN of $8 plus $8 shipping. Have no idea what it is but for $16 it must be a deal, or maybe not.

The brown box looks like a door bell chime. If so, what's the Bell System black box, transformer? Looks like more than 2 wires coming out of the back. Don't know.

So, what is it? How is it used? Deal or no deal?

John   .....  I'm not saying this is necessarily the case, "but", the logo upper case "E", was a trade mark brand of the Edwards alarm companies products.    It may be something like an early fire alarm control unit to which heat or smoke sensors would be connected, and if a fire and / or smoke were detected, the alarm control unit would utilize the premise's telephone line to automatically dial up a monitoring company, or go direct to the local fire department dispatcher's office.

from the looks of this, its simple.... an old doorbell setup. the Edwards chime was for the front door, and the WE #7 buzzer was for the back... so simple....
