Picked this up at the Verizon/Pioneers auction yesterday.  It was converted to CB about 1920.

It is a stunning piece.  Did they hit you with a 25% premium on the $1900 purchase price? I think that would be excessive where you were there....Doug

There was a 20% buyers premium, which is pretty standard. I figured on $2500 and I spent $2413 incl tax. The RI 7% sales tax is a (expletive deleted), though.

The phone was converted to Common battery around 1920 or so  judging from the 337 transmitter, 128 a dial card holder, blank transmitter cup, and black paint on the end of the hook and on the hook escutcheons.  They removed the original oak circuit board, which would have been stamped with Patent dates, and put a new conversion one in.  I think the ABT CO Receiver was added by a Pioneer once it was in the museum.   The original serial number tag was used to cover the crank hole.
