So, how does one dial a number on this "Authentic, Victorian, Rotary, Telephone, Ivory, Decorative" that was made in Japan?

I've never seen a dial number plate like this. Are there others?

This is a Japanese reproduction of a Kjobenhavns Aktieselskab Danish desk phone like the one I am working on now.... It looks as though the dial center/number disk are one piece on the copies and snap in as opposed to the two piece design and screw mounting on the originals.

It is similar to the dial numbering scheme as on the original genuine dial, shown below. Photo shows the dial with the center cardboard disk off normally held in to the dial center by a wire snap ring.

Weren't the numbers displayed around the circumference of a disk attached to where the number card would normally be?

Yes they were as shown in the photo I posted below (Reply #2). The first one I posted only showed the finger wheel - I re-posted the photo showing it mounted on the dial with the numbers disk...

Immediately below, a photo of a Japanese repro with the repro dial on it with the snap in dial surround they came with. Compare it to the genuine dial below in my last message. This is the dial from a Japanese copy given me locally some months ago.
