This is without a doubt the craziest phone I've ever seen.

You could call this the "Rorschach phone."

Something you'd see in a classically-trained psychoanalyst's office during one of those all-day sessions that require a special FDA license:  "Doc, your wall just turned into an oriental rug... and your phone melted into a puddle."  

"Very good, now we can get down to work on your troubles.  Tell me, what does that phone remind you of...?"

It looks like it was made out of a piece of driftwood.  If they hadn't stained it such a dark red, it might actually look pretty good.

ISTR several companies offering similar phones about 10 years ago. 

I've resisted the temptation to collect the phones, but have collected a few photos over the years...  some appear to be cousins of the phone you found.

A display of different varities could add a lot of visual interest to your collection!
