AT&T 2830... Made in USA... in 1988???

Hi everyone,

Maybe someone can help me to understand this better.  I know that the general rule of thumb is that AT&T began their overseas production some time in 1986--generally around the same time that much US production ceased for general phone products.  I have seen a Trimline (possibly a 2500 set, but I believe it was Trimline) with 1987 dates, to my surprise, but this is--in my experience--one of the latest USA-made dates I've seen on an AT&T product (with the exception of some items made for AT&T in Corrinth, Mississippi... ITT?  Cortelco?  Can't remember the make.  I have several NOS extension ringers--such as for a Princess phone--that I have, but I digress.).

This office set reads "88149" and "AT&T Technologies...Made in USA."

Thanking you in advance for helping to enlighten me... and maybe many others!

AT & T did not ship its 1A2 overseas.  1A2 was on it's way out in the 80"s
but they still had to support the systems until they were replaced. Itt and comdial made 1A2 in The USA as well.  The phone that you see has rust around the feet.
Almost all of the 10,20,30 button phones had this problem. The phone listed requires a KSU to make it operate correctly. You can wire a adapter to use line 1 only.
