Can you hook an older ringer, such as those from a 634A subset, to a 425B network?

The only part of a 425B network that is associated with a ringer is the capacitor internally wired to A and K. So you could use that capacitor in series with a 8A ringer from a 634A subset. However, that capacitor is only 0.47 uf and the 8A normally requires 1.0 uf; so, it may not ring very well.

Could one put another .47 mfd capacitor in series with the A or K wire to get close to the older ringers capacitance requirement?

Resistor adds in series; capacitor adds in parallel. Someday I'll remember that.

Thanks for the correct wiring info.
