People are often looking for these, and they do not appear often for reasonable prices.

I saw one in the ivory bakelite and I wanted it so bad, but we forgot about it!

Sold!  Or should I say "bought"?   Anxious to see it in person.  I've been wanting to pick up some of the European phones to go with the couple of BTMC dials I have.

Look at this:

I guess its called Standard 1952 1950 in a Norwegian book, but I really believe the design is older.

Edit:
Standard Electric 1950 in that book.

I know there was a previous post about the wall phone version, and I think the general consensus was that it was ugly, but i think it's kind of cute.  The wall version is next on my list.

Whats nice? whats ugly?
I like it, and had mine on the desktop for years.

We have had a discussion at home, and for the moment the AE40 has that place.

It may (sometimes) take some time to learn to like it too.

There is a description of this model here: http://www.britishtelephones.com/stc2724.htm.  The design dates back to 1932.

Here is an Hungarian version:

I wouldn't pay that much, but it may be quite different, look at the fork.

I guess the fancier hook design caused a bit of grief with the moulding process, havingto be a little more careful when releasing the part from the moulding machinery... :D

My beautiful Antwerp phone arrived today.

OH NO!  That's awful!  Mine also came from the Houston area, but I guess that it was packed better.  I sure hope that you get a full refund.

The usual packaging when the Seller doesn't read the packing instructions.  Dropped in a box with some newspaper stuffed around it.  The Box isn't damaged, but I'm sure it was handled roughly by UPS.  Better packaging would have saved the phone.  Another great old phone destroyed by a careless seller.

All it takes is a drop or bump, and if there is nothing around the phone to take the shock, the bakelite will.  These phones are actually somewhat stronger than some other bakelite phones.
