Help Wiring a AE Stick to a AE 24 Dial

I picked up a few sticks at Brimfield that looked like they were in a barn for years.

I cleaned them up and both are in very nice shape.

Someone in its life removed the dials. Left all the wiring in place including line and handset cords.

I cannot find out where 3 4 5 6 7 go on the dial. I cannot find a schematic of just the dial connects.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You out there Stub??....Doug

Stub....thanks for the info. Here is where I stand

Dial works transmitter works. Receiver works fine outside the phone very low DT connected.

Dial has 4 3 7 6 5 no strap

I did strap 2 -6 per the dial schematic, it was not there

Line cord is 1 Y 2 R 3 Red?

Handset is 5 R 6 G

I swapped out the dial to be sure.

I am close....thanks my friend....Doug

If connected to a subset as per the diagram then it should work.
How are you testing the receiver out of circuit?

Doug Rose

The dial wiring must still be off as when I attach the line cords to the subset, it either dial out with transmission and very low reception. If I change the wiring to the subset, I will not break dial tone, but reception and transmission is clear.

Frustrating as I have put a lot of hours into this.

It is beautiful!...Doug

Some photos of the subset and how you are wiring it will likely assist here.
As you say it's a lovely looking phone.

I was about to ask the same.

A photo of it wired up to the Subset please Doug.

Candlesticks are my passion so very keen to learn, photos of the connected Subset would help.

Lots to see and learn here for all of us.

I am using my  WE 302 base that is on my workbench. I don't think it is the subset, I think it is the wiring to the dial.
I use this all the time...Doug

What's inside the shell?  Is it a DC series receiver, a polarized receiver (with permanent magnet), or a later capsule receiver upgrade?

If it's the DC receiver, maybe this will help.

Cliff....I honestly tried FIVE different Known Good receivers and got the same result.

No temper tantrums were displayed in building this phone!

Very close though  8)

Here is the other AE stick I got at Brimfield. Cloth cords are perfect and it had the original receiver... but the paint was not. I stripped it to have it repainted, BUT.....

There was a lot of Brass peaking through, but when I stripped it it had a layer of Grey???

This is the proper dial but it is not working.

It is way in the back of the last picture. This guy has a rubber gasket, black phone had remnants of cloth.

Manual American Electric in the front of the last Pic. It was one of my prize pickups.

Displays well.....Doug
