I recently acquired a North bakelite desk phone with the little button that stops the hookswitch from going all the way up until you press it. Is this button supposed to diable the transmitter to moniter the line?
Mine works exactly opposite, it disables the receiver and leaves the transmitter in circuit. I verified this by listening on another phone.
I took the phone apart to clean it up and then wired it back according to the diagram inside. It must have been wired differently before I took it apart. It works like a normal phone except for the button issue. (I will probably disable the latch mechanism) I would like to make it work as intended, as I'm picky that way.
The phone has a 30~ ringer(looks like a Stromberg Carlson) in it and a really cool sounding North dial. (It sounds like doink-doink-doink when it dials).
Does anybody have the wiring diagram for this partyline variaton of the North.
Also, did North make any other models previous to this style?
