Let's see if this WE 3 boxer with a rare Blake transmitter works for number 107. Listed less than a day ago at $29.99, it is now at $511.99 with 6 bidders and 11 bids in this 7 day auction.

The seller listed it as a "Western electric & American Bell co antique crank wall telephone 11/17/1891" with the item condition as "Used" and said it's a "Western Electric phoIIne made to Alexander Graham Bells specifications. Patient Nov 17 1891 serial number 321225. Not currently working. Phone reciever not connected to external terminal mounts. Earpiece missing 2 1/2" of bakelike where threaded (see photo). Can turn around in hanger so is not noticable. Brass keyhole plate on Edison Carbon speaker box missing one brad. Two inch split in upper left side of wood by mounting screw. Does not effect hanging of phone."

It's another chance to either move up a rung or to get onto the -> Contest Standings <- list, you have to play to win!

New members on the forum are always very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. It does pay to get your guess in early if you know the selling price. I will be watching guesses and helping members as the contest progresses to prevent crowding (try to stay at least 5% away from a previous guess) under Rule #3. With that said, have at it . . .

I am going to guess $2400.

What's that bracket holding on the transmitter?  There seem to be quite a few holes with no wires coming out of them.  It has a 144 receiver that was added later (these were not introduced until after three boxers had gone extinct) so it looks as if this phone has been monkeyed with at some point.  I would really like to see the insides of those boxes.

The winner of Auction Contest #107, a remarkable eBay auction indeed, is Jim S. who won the contest with 15 minutes to go. How? His guess of $3,700 was the highest on the Scoreboard and the auction went over $3,700 with 15 minutes to go. This was the first win for Jim S. so congratulations go out to him for becoming the newest member of our Contest Standings board.

Wow, that was a remarkable auction. Sat at $795 for two days after the extra pictures were posted, the one showing something other than a Blake transmitter inside the Blake box, then jumped to $1,250 with about a half a day to go and then soared to over $3,000 during the day sitting at that bid until the last half hour when the price kept going up and up and up until the auction ended and the phone sold for $5,599.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The phone, listed at $29.99, received over 61 bids from 10 hopeful buyers and in the end, it was a bidding war between s***s (20) and w***w (534) who came in with his first bid with about 15 minutes left in the auction and must really have wanted it because he bought the phone. Wow, unbelievable. Can't wait to hear what Sargeguy as to say about this sale.

Check out the updated Contest Standings to see who's who through 107 contests.

Thanks again to all who played. As always, there is only one way to get on the winner's board or move up a rung - you have to play to win.
