New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about 12 hours ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve and starting at a minimal $9.99 is what appears to be a 51AL Candlestick with a No. 2 dial, un-notched number plate and a bull dog transmitter. Seems to have been a gift of sorts given to Edward C. Michaub? in 1968 based on the number card. Since being listed, it attracted 2 bidders each placing a bid driving the price up to $34.00. It will sell but once again, for how much?

NOTE: we will use a $3 gap rule between guesses again to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $3 away from prior guesses for this contest.

The eBay seller listed it as an "VINTAGE WESTERN ELECTRIC DIAL CANDLESTICK TELEPHONE " with the item condition as "Used" and " - - - " and with the auction listing description saying simply "Up for bids is a great old telephone from an estate.  It is in good overall condition.  The dial moves well.  The numbers are not worn off.  The handset has no cracks or chips.  The cord is not frayed.  The paint has some wear and could use a good cleaning.  I think a lot of the paint wear could buff out. The felt pad is in good shape. Nice old phone to restore"

More photos at the eBay listing will be added to this contest later today.

It's another chance to move up a rung or to get onto the CRPF -> Contest Standings <- list,

. . . for as twocvbloke said,   ---> "You gotta be in it to win it !!!" ;D "

And the winner of Auction Contest #213 is andre_janew who with the very first entry into the contest offered the winning guess of $175.00 giving him his 5th auction contest win. A first guess win is very rare, indeed. So, once again, our congratulations go out to andre_janew for another win in the CRPF Auction Contests and for moving up one rung in the Contest Standings.

The phone was won by c***r ( 6 ), who must have wanted the stick. His first bid was a bit above $50 and he continued to bid throughout the contest. Within the last hour, he traded bids with u***c ( 10367 ) but after his last bid placed about 2 minutes before the auction ended, his competition dropped out so he took the phone home  for $180.19. The phone started at $9.99 and moved up in price during the auction.  There were no last second sniped. The auction saw 8 bidders placing 30 bids.

Thanks again to all who played. As always, there is only one way to get on the winner's board or move up a rung - you have to play to win.
