The dial is North Electric. This is the early "easy to clean" version (NOT!).

This one made my head hurt.

Seller says, among other things, that "This thing is way too cool!"

http://www.ebay.com/itm/281064564245 with a BIN at $74.00 plus $10.50 shipping.

Was this, or any part of this, ever a real phone? Created using select phone parts?

Item Description. "Description Offered for your consideration is a great old Alba Art Studio Cigar Lighter! It is shaped like an old rotary dial telephone, but built into the handset is a cigar lighter. You push the button on the receiver and the otherend heats up enough to light your stogie. And it is an electric clock with the dial like it would have been on a real telephone. It says "Timelite" on the clockface and the clock movement was made by Lanshire of Chicago. This thing is way too cool!  The original cord appers to have been replaced and is in good condition. The phone sits 5" wide, 6" deep and thehandset is about 7" long. The clock face, dial, clock hands and dial cover are pretty good but do have scratches and fading. The paint is in good condition with a few little dings from normal wear and use. Side of the case has a dent and crack  behind where the phone receiver sits "see pic of right side". Hard if not impossible to see in the pictures is a small piece of metal missing on the receiver where you light your cigar in between two of the holes. Most likely from heating many times. The originalAlba Art Studio plate is on the bottom w the clock setting knob is located.Your gonna love this item, even if you just set it in your office. It would make a fantastic decorative or conversation piece."

I'm going to vote no, it looks like it was made that way.

This one's just funny, nothing lost here, just funny . . .  :D

I wonder how the person using it would keep from sneezing?

Starting bid asked was $9.99 plus $13.99 shipping and it did not sell.

That's not a phone.   It's a Tribble.

Can't be a tribble - tribbles are cute! Lets hope these don't multiply like tribbles!

If they throw in a tin of paint stripper and drop the price by $140, maybe... :D

What do I think?  It's been floating around for 4 years, therefore, it's not really art if nobody likes it!

I think I found Barney the Dinosaur's phone

Here's a GPO 746 fitted with what looks to be a european dial of some description which sits very proud of the phone, seemingly over the top of the original dial ring, goodness knows how it's secured in place... :o

Here is my dial blank Signal Corps TP-6-A 'toaster'.

It is 6 pounds of metal. You should hear this thing ring. It will wake the dead!
