Just stumbled on a tool listed as a Modular Plug Presser Tool, I do not think that's what it is. Can anyone identify it? What is the meaning of the instructions stamped on the side?

Not a mod tool but a B connector pressor flat . B connnectors look like little milk bottles.  The instructions are to make sure the crimping is set properly. The same basic frame was used for  modular connectors  and had interchangable dies. Was $200 + dies and leather case.

That does not look like any crimping tool i have seen.
never hurd of usin solder with a tool such as that.
I would like to see a better pic of the jaws.
I assume, it is a clamp of some sort, to hold 2 items in alignment while solder is applied.but from what?
maybe, they pressed the solder into/onto a part in the clamp to hold it together???
hope someone has seen one and can comment.

RB

ok, wutza B connector?
and how were they used?

rdelius

B conncectors  were used  in cable splicing.Scotchloks are more common. The groove shows how thick the solder would be if crimped with the tool. Solder is not used in the connectors of splicing, just to check calibration of the jaws.

RB

ok, I thot it was along those lines.

stearine...acid core wiping solder is for soldering lead objects like cable sheath or sleeving.

sounds a lot like pipe sweating solder...???
