Makes ya think, don't it. Having only three things to list is really hard.

But Steve, beer and gunpowder are pre-19th century inventions.
Come to think about it, can we call electricity an invention?  Or just putting it to human use?  I'm not trying to be a smart-butt, it's just got me thinking, and that's not always a good thing...

electricity does exist in the forms of lightning and static. but inventions were need to harness and produce it on demand.

How about:

Electricity.  (harnessed as Steve pointed out)

Telephone.  (to talk to the girlfriend, Hobiesport)

Refrigeration.  (for the beer and antibiotics, Steve and Bingster)

There are too many to just pick three.  All of them make life easier.......Three of my favorites would have to be:

The airplane

Refrigeration (like heath said ---but I was thinking Air Conditioning)

The Internet
