They are quite cute aren't they - an intercom that takes batteries in the shaft and has a DC bell in the base.

There's been some nice candlesticks go through Ebay lately.  Here's a Sumter that sold a few days ago.

I never did find any historical information about the phone, but it sold for a high price.  Must be pretty rare not to have any articles about it on the web.

These were discussed on one of the FB telephone pages some time ago. Some had surfaced in Asia and I think one in the UK.

Unfortunately FB is not big on archives.
