Someone a couple of miles from here has been trying to sell several phones on craigslist.  None of them are anything special, but one is unfamiliar.  What is it?

Pretty cool looking magneto. Is that a hunting dog on it?
Dave, who still needs a Transmitter Bracket for the Automatic Electric Type 38 Handset.

I was wondering what that animal was too, can't quite make it out.  The lettering at the top looks like it might be east European?

It reminds me of a German OB33, but I don't have this one.

Googeling: http://tinyurl.com/bbw7fs3 give you some pictures.

The OB 33 was put in production in Germany in 1933 :) It came the same year as lots of German "signal corps" telephone equipment.  The FF33 the field telephone who may be the only one as rough and long lived as the US EE-8.

It looks like dsk has identified it.  I think that the animal thing on the front was someone's custom addition.  I have no idea what it is worth or how much the seller wants for it, but I assume that it is not especially valuable.
