This is very cool. I have one that I use as a table in my Phone room. These are not as easy a find. ....Doug

I'd like to see a picture of yours in use. Excellent idea!
At least it wasn't made into a lamp!
Hey Benny.....i found mine at a yard sale in a free pile. It was a mess, but cleaned up really well. Nothing like old wood just waiting to be brought back to life. These are sturdy...very sturdy.
They just wanted it out of the house. Jan thought I was nuts when I took it, covered with paint, dirt, spider webs and other assorted things. It was neglected for many years in their basement.
When I showed her the Bell System engraved in the wood, she was shocked. " I would never have given it a second look" is what she said to me.
I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time......Doug
I had one of those on my ladder truck when I worked in cable maintence. We called them a splicer's box.
"Butt-box", and we still use them. The ones we get now are plastic though.

That is interesting, thanks Doug for posting those pics!
Add this to my list of things to be on the look out for. I would be like Jan, for sure!
It would make sense that they would be fabricating them these days.
Yep, ye olde buttbox.
