Several more boxes were picked up yesterday, and I have three more shipping opportunities this month. As these arrive, I will detail them in this thread rather than starting new threads.

My thanks to travelers heading this way this summer and Don.

In one of the boxes which arrived today are 15-20 WE 1001h handsets, all in various stages of repair. There are 13 complete and about 10-15 missing the transmitter ring/cap.  Most are nickel plated, and some of them are black adonized. Hopefully when I have time to get to them, I will find i have enough nits and pieces in the box to complete a large number of them.

Hopefully if tomorrow's storm isn't too severe, I will get a chance to go through some of these.

Brian Gough just stopped by the drop off another 3 boxes of assorted items.

Probably the prize is a dial version of the Lucent 2520B Explosion proof set to complement my TT version. I believe the model number for this one is is WE320. It is complete in all respects, except, of course it is dial, rather than TT.

Also, a ton of WE butt sets (the older nickel plated types), more military, etc. etc.

It is going to take me a few days to get it all organized, and I will upload information about the highlights.

I just hope I get these sorted before the next batch arrives!

Here is an update on this find from Don...

There are 13 complete 1001 handsets and about ten to 15 missing their transmitter caps and rings.

2 - 322C3 Elevator phones, one minus its handset and the other missing its handset and dial. Both are missing their 101A induction coils. I have the parts in stock to restore both.

1- There is one Model 320 Explosion Proof Phone in good shape and complete.

2 - GEG Multi Phones.

Another intercom, Probably British

Tons of 1001 handsets needing transmitter caps and a number of butt sets.

Also another Mark I RCAF field set including good handset/cord

1 Military handset and wall mount/hook switch..

These all need to be cleaned up yet.

I hope you have lots of room Dave. I spent the day in the warehouse on Friday and I have a LOT more stuff for you!  There are some really interesting pieces that will really tax your investigative superpowers!

Hi Don:

I am having a great time going through the items received so far!

With yesterday's storm I didn't get back at it till this afternoon. Since the power was off, spent some time cleaning up some of the WE 1001 handsets in the porch as there was enough light to work there. Finally tonight, the power came back on, after 32 hours without, so am looking forward to getting a lot more done tomorrow!

Just like Christmas when a new batch lands. Thank you so much, Don!

Hi All:

I spent a while today working on the two elevator phones. I have installed a dial and a new 101A network in each, and have them mostly rewired. Only one problem - I have two wires (same in each) which don't match the schematic wire colours and which disappear into the wiring bundle. I still have to locate the other end of them, then I should be able to finish up.

I still need to put a handset on each. Funny, a few months ago I was thinking that I wished I had an elevator phone, but their prices were running too high at the time, and lo and behold these show up in the latest batch from Don.

I was also looking for a 1001A handset. I do have a pair of 1004 Forest Service handsets with the built in battery, buzzer, and coil. Now I have 13 complete ones. I still have to clean them up, but decided I would put the elevator and the mine phone ahead of them in the queue!

Something you guys should keep in mind. Most of these are nickel plated. Some of them have had black electrical tape wound around them, and when it was removed, it left a thick layer of black plastic under the bottom layer. I tried my usual WD-40 and alcohol to remove it, but it had been on for too long to come off that way. So what I eventually used was 18th Century paint stripper, put a little on the tape, and in seconds it would wipe away. Don't of course do this on a painted item, but to get tape residue off nickel, it is perfect! Just in case you have such a situation. Free 1001 handsets for the next 10-12 collector visitors to the museum! Lots of spare parts for them also other than transmitter rings and covers.

Thanks again, Don!

If that's the one at the top right of the photo, I think it's a GEC

Yes, that one is a GEC. It was actually the one on the lower left I was referring to... Any idea what GEC model that one is?

I don't recognise the lower left; unless there are markings or someone recognises the handset, the box itself is fairly anonymous.

Lots of the GEC versions look alike externally.

The GEC phone has 5 lines selected by push buttons. When you hang up, it cancels the previous line selection. It is designed as an intercom, I would say, as it contains no network aty all, and its line cord terminates in a 4"x6" junction box. I have two of those phones, but the bakelite in the second one had a big chunk out of it. The GEC ones have a handset cradle suitable for both wall or desk mounting.

Being more of a North American collector than European, I know little or nothing about these.

So if anyone has any further information about this or the other European phone, I would appreciate it if you could fill me in.; The GEC one s identified by a GEC logo on it - the other one on the lower left bears no logo.

Yes, the GEC is an intercom.

Hi All:

Quite a day working over in the Museum workshop. I have rebuilt the two 322C3 Elevator phones I got in my last shipment from Don. Both needed new things like new dial, both 101A inductors had been stripped off, and both handsets were MIA.

I had the parts here, so today I made that my project - next the mine phone, then finally going through all the 1001 handsets and combining them so the ones I keep are the best looking.

The biggest problem I ran across with the two elevator phones is that there were two capacitors, a 1 uf and a 2 uf in mine - the schematics showed a single capacitor version. So that muddied the issue and left me with a lot of head scratching as I worked my way through trying to trace the wiring. I still haven't cleaned them - I am leaving that until I have both completely done otherwise.

It isn't often you can show both the inside and outside of a hone in one shot, but here is one of the exceptions - identical phones - one viewed from the top, and one from the bottom.

The schematic in C65.861 shows two capacitors:
1 MF for the buzzer: yellow to L2Y, slate to K
2 MF talk: red to C, black to BK on dial
