And here is one for Terry to answer... Three Meridian ISDN? sets pulled from a box the other day. What do you know about these, Terry?

I still think those look like a Hoover Junior model 1334... ;D

(Original 1334 on right, generic replacement parts one left)

Just got a call from an ex-Island Tel fellow who has been down a number of times before. Thursday, he is bringing down a fellow from Cape Breton who has a large number of lead cable working tools for the museum...

Aah yes, I had missed this question/post. I actually WASN'T on a cruise ship then in August but WAS furiously trying to get our cabin outside completely repainted while the weather was good and before we were to "sail away" on our next cruise on September 16.

I first said "SL1 2317" when I saw the picture of the phone but then I read your post and realized it is actually a 5317 which means Nortel DMS 200 (DMS 100 with Centrex software) Centrex set.

I have seen those "data boxes" before as well and I know nothing about their capability. DMS CO switches could do ISDN so there must have been a Centrex version combining ISDN into the equation as well. Probably meant data/internet access of 56K x2 for a blazing fast 112K cruise on the information highway! Then they launched ADSL and ISDN pretty much took a long cruise into the sunset off of a short pier.

What an amazing amount of stuff! Liam sure enjoyed helping Dave with the treasure hunt. We're holding a WE transmitter and headset mounted on a swinging boom. Thing weighs a ton. I seem to recall seeing it in a catalog somewhere. Dave was gracious enough to let us leave with some goodies. Like Liam said: "He's a really nice man".

He sure is. A true phone pioneer for setting up that museum. You all have to go see it.

Thanks a ton, Dave. A highlight of our trip to PEI.
You just got Honrable Mention on the Musem's new FaceBook page:

Yes, I know Telephone has an extra "le" in it. Once they select the page address, you can't change it!
