Look what just showed up on eBay, and with no reserve! Only question is, what will it sell for after the dust settles?

This phone started at $9.99 in a 7 day auction about an hour ago, already has one bid, but that will certainly change over the next week.

The seller listed it as an "VTG PINK Western Electric Mushroom Rotary Dial Telephone Phone LIGHTED 1960" with the item condition as " - - " and states " This auction is for a USED Vintage "Mushroom" "LIGHTED" Telephone Phone Made by Western Electric in 2/ 1960, This Is a Excellent Example of a Model 500 U. The "U" models have a small lamp over the dial to allow one to use the phone in a dark room. Because of the shape of the lamp shade the phone is commonly called a "Mushroom" Phone. The Mushroom on This Phone is an original not a replacement. The color of The Phone is Pink and as you can see in the pictures it is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips; it has a Volume RING Control turn dial located on the bottom. The dial light is controlled by a two position switch mounted on the lower left of the phone body; it can be turned on as a dim night light and will get brighter when the receiver is lifted or switched to only come on when the receiver is lifted. The telephone requires a transformer that must be plugged in to a normal 110 volt wall socket in addition to being connected to the telephone line which I do not have, so I was unable to tell if the light works. This phone is in great working condition; it calls OUT and rings IN and has the old strong bell ringer. The phone cord looks to be faded some as you can see in the pictures; it also has the Western Electric G3 receiver. This phone will also have to be fixed to the "today's" plug-ins. I know these phones are highly collectable and getting very hard to find so don't let this one get away; A true Collector's Phone with NO RESERVE! I have described it to the best of my ability . . . "

A few more photos can be seen at the eBay listing.

Still another chance to either move up a rung or to get onto the CRPF -> Contest Standings <- list, as always, you have to play to win!

New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

I will help members as the contest progresses to prevent guess crowding under Rule #3, the 5% rule. With that said, have at it . . .

I thought I might take a chance on it, but it looks like somebody put in a high bid, because all I'm doing is running up the bid. Sorry about that..
