202 Phone with 500 base, how to wire?

After much searching, I have some info such as to disconnect the hook switch on the 500, etc.  But I cant find the exact hookup between a 500 base and the 202.  Poplar mentioned using 5 wires between the base and phone but AFAIK the 202 phone normally uses 4 wires to subset. What is the 5th wire?

BTW the only reason for trying this is I like the 500 ring sound very much. I have a 302 base coming and a cover for it, but want to try using the 500 base or at least have the info on hand so it is an option.

Another thing I was considering was moving the ringer from the 500 into the 302 base. Not sure if they are electrically the same (probably) or if it could fit.

That's just to explain what I'm doing...

Hopefully this will get easier after a couple times around the block.

Thank you!    :)

Try searching for "202 with 685A subset."

If you like the sound of the C4 ringer, why don't you just get a sub set with the C4s in it. I think it was the 630. I don't think you're going to have the space for a C4 in the base of a 302, it's already cramped.

thanks, that search term found this result below (among others), I will study it:  (was looking for 202 with 500 as subset, no luck)
