You think if he'd used thicker plywood, he wouldn't have needed the pillars to hold up the phone?

I did once have a "gossip bench" for a desk phone. Attached to  the shelf where you would normally find a phone directory, there was a Leich "beehive" generator box. The phone was a non-dial Kellogg 1000 ("Redbar").

Once the TDM phone network ("landline") is shut down, I guess we can all get some local battery phones like this one and string wire to our neighbors....I'll be watching for these on the TV show "Revolution."
