This post is to commemorate D-Day, June 6th, 1944, the day in history when 132,815 men (75,215 British and Canadians and 57,600 American) were landed from ships and craft onto five Normandy, France, beaches, 'Utah' (near Martin de Varreville), 'Omaha' (around St Laurent), 'Gold' (around Arromanches), 'Juno' (around Courseulles) and 'Sword' (near Ouistreham). This is a thank you to all those who served, for their efforts and in remembrance of those who never came home.

An important date, easily overlooked as we go about our busy day-to-day.

Thanks for bringing my attention to the date.
