New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed late Sunday night in a 7 day auction with no reserve is this two boxer with OST receiver which seems to be original, complete and dates back to 1897, but I could be wrong on those last 3 facts. It was listed at $9.95 plus $29.85 for shipping and has received 4 bids in the first 3 hours of the auction raising the current bid to $60.99.  So, once again, the question is who best knows what this phone will sell for when the auction ends?

The seller listed it as an "Antique Double Box New Standard Wall Telephone & Open Terminal Receiver Original" with the item condition as " - - - " and " - - - " with the auction listing description as "Up for bids is this very early antique double box New Standard wall telephone- Complete with long pole open terminal receiver.  This great looking phone was an estate find and is in just as found condition- Rare, hard to find phone for any collection. Receiver looks very good with no cracks or breaks.  Phone box is in great, original condition.  Receiver is marked with embossed lettering that reads "The Standard Telephone & Electric Co. - Madison Wis."  Inside the phone box there is a paper tag that is marked "New Standard No. 1 Series" and dated "5-19-1897."  Phone stands approx. 29 inches high and measures roughly 11 ½ inches wide.  Original and just as found- Great looking old patina- Would make a great addition to any rustic setting. - Normal wear from use- (minor cosmetic issues such as rust, dust, dirt, scratches, small dents and dings). Please refer to the pictures for size and details- be sure to scroll through them all; click to zoom. We'll gladly combine shipping- scroll down for terms of sale. Feel free to email with any questions. Thanks for looking and good luck. The items I sell are Barn and Farmhouse finds from old farm estates throughout Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri.  Many of them have been lightly cleaned to preserve their original old patinas and are ready for display.  Every step is taken to protect the evidence of years of use and aging.  Some items we leave in as-found, rustic condition with rust, dust and dirt to be restored to your liking. Selling without reserve to the highest bidder. Don't miss out by waiting until the last minute. Once it's gone... it's gone."

NOTE: we will use a 3% gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, guess gaps of 6+% can be split. I'll help with these as the auction goes forward and guesses are entered.

This is a tough one.  Usually a Standard Electric (not to be confused with Standard Electrical works, an early Bell supplier) don't fetch much.  This one is in really nice condition, is dated, the Milde transmitter (?) and has that awesome long pole.  Sales are depressed lately but I think that long pole might put it over $1000.  With Christmas next week and the budgets strained from Morphy's, it will probably go lower.  $825 is my guess.

This OST receiver, in very nice condition, just sold for $1,525 plus $9.95 for shipping. Started at $9.99 in a 7 day auction. The receiver on this contest phone is not as nice but maybe Morphy's didn't get all the money on the 6th.

The Bell Canada double banded long pole was in beautiful condition.  It is the second version (of 3) of double banded long poles  - circa 1881-1886.
