I recently picked up a WE oval phone marked D2 on the back. It appears to be unmolested. On the bottom the base has felt.
Internally it has an extra set of hookswitch contacts and a five conductor cloth wall mounting cord.  Handset is a seamless E1 type with the bullet style transmitter, seamless caps too.  The dial appears to be a 4 type with single contacts. On the back of the dial is the filter network. Couldn't find a date in it with all that wiring crammed in it.  I didn't get a ringerbox with it.  I wonder what its purpose was, and whether it was functionally (electrically) the same as the 304 set which also had extra contacts on the hookswitch.  I have several 202 style phones D1, but never a D2 before.

The D2 was used in the 103 sidetone set - addendum C32.164, Issue 3, July, 1953.
