Has anyone ever adapted an HA-1 receiver element into an E-1 handset to improve the sound?

Yes.But not  an HA 1 but the capsule out of a trimline .When I was ChicagoOld Telephone ,we did it ll the time.Used a lathe to enlarge the hole in the casting to allow the capsule to fit .One side of capsule grounded and other soldered to the center contact on the capsule. If used in series, remove the varistor

Robby, did anyone save the left-over diaphragms? For some reason these are often bent or missing--just one more problem with buying on Ebay.

Would you have any photos of this process by chance?
