I picked up an SC subset that seems like it was made from a 1243 base.  It has a 426 tube in it that doesn't seem to work, but it rings fine wired without the tube in the mix.  My question is how should I connect a phone, such as a 202, to this subset?  I can't find any wiring schemes for such a set up.

Some pictures of what you are working with might help to figure out the wiring.

SC used the same base stamping for telephone bases, subsets and terminals .You need to see what network is in it and compare to 1243 and later 1543 sets. they look almost alike

Is the bottom marked 1243WF?

The "desk set box" for the 124x-type SC sets is a 1260. Perhaps the wiring diagram for that might help.

More info may be available in an SC catalog.
