Automatic Electric 1A Monophone, Old Ivory Color

Bought for $235 on a buy-it-now, with $30 shipping.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/373962797060

A new Ebay seller with no feedback as a seller.  I was a little leery, but decided to take the plunge.

I sent the seller a message reminding her how delicate these are, and she packed it to withstand a large drop.

It looks to be 100% original, with no obvious damage.

The ivory color has faded to be more of a butterscotch.

This is my first early AE in color.

That is an amazing find.

I assume that ivory is the most common color, but any of these in colors are pretty scarce. It's an elegant looking little phone.

The Mahogany color is, in my opinion, the most easily found of these 1A's in color. Yours being Ivory, with a matching Ivory cradle is VERY scarce! I think that these are the 1st generation of colored AE 1A sets (the colored cradle variety), and you just do not see them at all! Price was a steal.

Sorry for this late reply, I've been away on vacation.  This really is a beautiful phone.  It doesn't appear to show any signs of use, as there is no wear on the nameplate in the cradle and the cords appear to be very nice.  The early AE cloth cords are very fragile and fall apart quite easily.  I bought a similar phone way back in the late 70s or early 80s from another collector, who shipped it to me in a box with absolutely no packing whatsoever.  Needless to say, the ears on the cradle did not survive.  I had to put a chrome cradle on it and I have never found another matching Old Ivory cradle.  Ray is correct in saying that the AE 1A Monophones with the matching color cradles are very hard to find.  I'm very envious... what a great find!

Thank you for the kind words.  I was very worried about shipping damage.  I sent two messages to the seller explaining how delicate the antlers are on these.  She wrapped it very well.  It took me at least 10 minutes to unwrap it, peeling away multiple thoroughly taped layers of bubble wrap.  It made it very suspenseful.  I needed some dramatic music.
