Post your "Finds of the Month" for May 2012 Here.

"Finds of the Month" are items that you acquired this month that you are particulatly excited about either because of its rarity, the difficulty you had in trying to find one for your collection or the exceptional "deal" you got on it etc.

Here are a few "favorites" and some restores. The French PTT was a great find for me. This phone was the same one used in the movie "A Shot In The Dark" with Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau. I was watching the move the other night and the phone appeared in the 1st scene AFTER the opening credits. Thanks to member "twocvbloke" who helped ID the phone for me. I went over to Ebay Fr. where there was only 1 listed in the Ivory Color. There a few newer models that look very similar by having a triangular side shape. But this model is from 1950's - 1960's. Also has the extra "Mother-In-Law" receiver.

Wow, not many "finds" this month! I haven't been pestering you guys enough to submit your finds this month as I was away for most of the month. So I'll give everyone another day or two.....please?

I'll add my "Find of the Day" here. An AE #2 with real nice bakelite and though it isn't gold trim but rather polished and lacquered brass, it is very nicely done. Also the phone is gutted inside, no induction coil, capacitor, terminal strip or ringer in it. AND, the cradle is one of the PhoneCo reproduction Monophone cradles. I had never seen one of them up close before and they are quite nicely done, other than the use of Phillips screws inside. So I guess I am in the marklet for a smashed AE #2 for parts now unless I can put it together from other parts around here. Probably no point in trying to make it authentic considering the parts it is missing and the repro cradle.

I got it for free from a phone collector friend that I had lunch with today.

Yes a bit of a dilema as the bakelite is in nicer condition than the AE 2 set that is a part of my collection. I could move stuff around I guess. This one has the "non original" brass finish where the one in my collection has authentic chrome. I'll probably do what I usually do.....absolutely NOTHING! It is definitely a looker, the pictures don't do it justice.

A Hard to find AE2 for free has to be the find of the month!!! Not many of these survived intact with the long distance of very thin bakelite. Poor design, very cool looking phone. Only the AE collector can have TWO!!!....Doug

Looks like we will close the May 2012 "Find of the Month" and hope for more activity in June. I think "The Soph Gent" just posted some of his past "Phone FInds" as opposed to entering them in the "Find of the Month" for May as he didn't provide pricing or any other details.
