Yesterday my partner found a green 302 for $12.00 at the flea market. He said I had so many back ones that this one was totally different.  The paint looks pretty good on it. Handset is painted also. It has a gold painted dial fingerwheel. I suspect it is not the real deal.
Here's my question(probably been brought up before)-
Did the phone company paint the plastic phones like they did the metal ones.
I will probably use Turtle Wax on it and display it as is.
I will add pictures later.

Yes, they did paint them. Does yours have green cords and if so are they Western Electric, cloth or plastic. Is the dial case white (5J or 6D dial)  instead of black  (5H)and with a clear finger wheel?

After looking at this phone closer it is not the real deal.
It appears to be a decent DIY job.  The cords were black rubber. The dial has a black body.  The sides of the leather feet had green overspray on them.
It is a "5 foot phone".
I polished it up and put green vinyl cords on it and it displays OK, breaks up the great expanse of black on my  shelf.
