Title: Here's my latest find with and an early date.
Post by: Dan/Panther on May 07, 2009, 02:18:21 PM
I saw this phone last night, and emailed to ask if it had dates on it anywhere.
When I opened my email account this morning, he had written back, and I immediately went to the auction, in hopes it was still available.
He said it was dated August 1951.
I needs cleaning, but my experience is that this looks like surface dirt.

Way to go. Looks like there is potential to clean up well. Keep us posted!

Sweet deal, Dan!  It looks like it will clean up nicely.  Good dial card, too.

It had a make an offer option , and at $10.00 someone actually made an offer. That seems kinda cheap to me. I would have felt bad offering say $8.00 !!
If I had waited to make an offer, someone else may have gottn it with  BIN.
If it turns out to be too dirty, then I can clean it up and at least get my money back.
Now I have a 51, 53, 54, 55, 56, 58, and 59-Black 500.
I let Bill Chail get the 52 a while back, I only had 55, and 56 at the time, turns out the 52 may be hard to find.

Nice buy Dan.  Even with shipping it's reasonable at that price.  And as Bingster said, that dial card looks like a keeper.  Maybe there will be a "bonus" card underneath.

You know where he lives.  Send a couple goons around.

Good catch, D/P.  And I like how the seller rescued the old beauty from a house that was about to be knocked down. He should get some kind of a medal for that. :)

I should send him an email offering $12.00 methinks :)

GOOD SCORE!
