OK ... when it comes to candlestick phones, I am dumb as dirt.

I have only one and it does not have a dial (magneto type).

I am thinking I might what to start looking for one with a dial that I can use.

So, a couple questions:

1) they are not big enough for a ringer obviously ... maybe not even a coil and capacitor.

Do they use a subset or just and external ringer or ?

2) some look like they just stuck a dial onto an old magneto phone.  is this normal for older phones or was this a home hack or ?

Thanks ... Mike

Most candlesticks do not have the induction coil or condenser in the base; so, a separate subset -- containing the ind. coil, condenser, and ringer -- is required.

As for the dial candlesticks connected to a magneto subset: this is a "marriage" made by the seller or former owner.
