I don't have a land line and do my repairs direct to a VOIP router to avoid reverse polarity.  Once I start using extensions in the house I find reverse polarity but that's easy to fix if I know the phone is working.  The Vonage v-portal is a nice test tool as it tells you what number you are dialing, which told me my latest 202 dial is in need of repair as 8 thru 0 are not reliable.

I have Vonage also, and suffered that issue early on. What are you doing to address this? I can definitely give pointers on this issue. BTW, what's "V" portal? Maybe I know it by "dashboard"?

V-Portal is the latest and greatest in Vonage routers.  Fully supports rotary dialing which my original Vonage Linksys routers did not.  I'm not going to mess with the dial.  I'm taking a picture of wiring before I remove the 202 dial and send it to a pro for repair.
