Such an interesting or maybe unusual design to have each card in the system support two stations and one CO line.

I might have to dig out the Vantage and power it up again soon!

Oh, that was just one type of card it could accept.

The Vantage 48 could accept a 4 CO line card (4x0), a 4 station line card (0x4), and a 1x2 as you describe (1 CO, 2 station).
There were also group switch configurations which had to be sequenced with the next three adjacent cards -- which could be two 1x2s and one 0x4, or one 4x0 and two 0x4s, or one 1x2 and 2 0x4s, or a 4x0 followed by a 1x2 followed by a 0x4.

How's that for strange.  Those were the only legal sequencing combinations under that config.
