Well, I just installed a correct hard center fingerwheel on my Princess-the soft center one went into the parts box for future use.

I think that it's probably true that the #8 wasnt' designed for use with a soft center wheel. The hard center one seems to fit a lot better-the soft one occasionally felt like it was rubbing, and would slow the dial down. No such problems so far with the hard center one, and I've given the dial several tries.
