Hello fellow phon-AE-holics:

No gold trim in this one, but it looks pretty good.

Jorge: While your AE34 doesn't have any Gold Trim it DOES have the chrome trim which is much less common than chrome on AE 40's or 50's. Of course all AE type 38 handsets have brass bands but they are usually painted black.

Nice job!

Thank you all for the nice comments.

Being an admirer of old electronics technology, I am happy that this phone has the first version of the anti-sidetone circuits ever produced by Automatic Electric. Since they went from this version to the one where the 200 Ohm resistor is wound as part of the receiver, I would say that places the origin of this set closer to the original release date of 1934.

What model handset is this one ?

I don't know the exact model designation, but I have seen it as part of AE40 and AE50 telephones.

As Paul posted....type 41. The type 41 was the next new handset after the type 38 which is the one on Jorge's AE 34 set. Although there are several subtle little differences between handsets that look like the type 38, they may not ALL be called type 38's. I'm not certain about that though.

Terry:

One of the differences is the brass pipe embedded in the handset to provide rigidity and a means to carry three wires for the induction coil receiver. In addition, this one has 5 screw mounting lugs to accommodate all the handset, speaker and mike wires, which was a pain in the %^$&^%& to put back together.

Is this the proper handset for the phone shown ?

Yup.

Phone Shown = AE40 and Handset is Type 41. Perfect match.

D/P,

Your handset is correct, but your dial center card is wrong.

#55
Larry;
Are you just trying to get my original mint Kellogg dial card ?
I notice you have the chrome dial ring with the black finger wheel, and mine is opposite, maybe we should trade dial card rings ?

D/P,

I will be happy to trade my chrome dial center ring with you for your black ring and your Kellogg 500.

I will even throw in an AE dial center card.

Larry;

Three options come to mind....

1) Send you the My Kellogg 500, my Black Dial Card ring and Kellogg dial card.
2) Send you the dial card only from my Kellogg 500, my black dial ring, and my Kellogg dial card, and say I misunderstood.... OR
3) I can say "Bite me...."

Right now first choice is #3, but that may change....in another lifetime....
