Title: I goofed,
Post by: Vern P on November 30, 2010, 12:59:54 PM
Sorry to do this, but this didn't post as I thought it would.

I made a post today about Vern's place. Please take a look, as I don't want to redo it.

Post looks fine Vern. Thanks for bringing that up, I am sure a lot of newer people here have not seen those pics of your place. One day I will get out there!

Vern....It was great to look at your phones again. I still can't get over the the Vanity Both. Can you give us some history on it? Simply amazing....Doug

Vern was unsure how to reply, so he asked me to supply his reply on this amazing find:

The history of the vanity booth:

This came from a friend of a dealer hear in SLC, UT.  All I saw was some
photos, I never saw the booth until it was delivered to me, as the booth
was in Idaho. (150 miles away)  I didn't have the time to drive up to
look at it.

The booth was found in a small Utah Power and Light garage in Provo
canyon. (45 miles South of SLC) Stuff in the garage was given to them
for cleaning it out.

When I got it all that was there was the 4 out side walls and roof.
(remember this is a doubled walled booth)  It had 4 coats of Green
paint.

It took a long time before I found someone to make the new inside walls
and ceiling. I had got some photo's of other double walled phone booths,
so I knew what it should look like.

The work that needed to be done on this was out of my league, so I had
to pay to get the work done.    I am into this about $6K.

I had the booth, now I needed to find the vanity to go in it.  I found
it at a East coast ATCA show, and had it shipped to me.

Now you know "the rest of the story"

I agree, that is an amazing display, I remember the first time I saw a photo of it a while back. Does the figure of $6,000 include the Vanity or is that just the booth?

Harry,
The $6k is for the booth only. The vanity was $3,700. That was when wood was high.
What is not showen is the WE Sunbust wall tamdam that is all so in the booth. It is in there, because I don't have wall space to hang it, as it is 5' tall.
