Post your "Finds of the Month" for September 2012 Here.

"Finds of the Month" are items that you acquired this month that you are particulatly excited about either because of its rarity, the difficulty you had in trying to find one for your collection or the exceptional "deal" you got on it etc.

tell302man found this AE 34 for $40 at a flea market. That's a great price for the much more difficult to find AE 34 as compared to the AE 40.

I just won and auction on EBAY for a 1963 Grey!!!!!!!! WE 500 desk phone!  Here's the before picture - I'll post another once it's cleaned up!  I treasure for me - been wanting one of these since I had one in 1970!

I have attached the before pictures - she's quite dirty - and cords are horrible!  We'll see if the peroxide solution works on them after krud cutter or other methods don't work. I may have to replace them - $$$ I suppose since it's grey and rare.   I think I'll try and completely dismantle this and clean it up completely.

Oh yeah the price?  $23.17 plus shipping - I think I did well!   ;D

Jim

PS 9/23/12 - Here's the pictures of it cleaned and after peroxide treatment.

I found a pre-1925 D-specification dial handset with a #2 dial. $40

I,m surprised that no one nominated Persido's found inthe trash 1937 302 with the E1 handset.
So I nominate this as a Find of the Month-Howard

Yes, thanks for adding that nomination Howard.

Then there is the Gilas's Peking red 302 and a black 302 ebaY find that should be here as well. $225 for the pair but then the black 302 was busted in delivery the insurance refunded $200. Total for the Pekin red 302 and spare black 302 parts = $25.

It doesn't completely fit in, but how about my 1967 curved sliding door phone booth and two WE touchtone singleslot payphones for the cost of taking a couple guys out to lunch?  I'll take a good picture of it with the phones later today, but here is the previous thread:

Gilas

Thanks for the nomination Terry. I'm happy with the Pekin for sure

ESalter

Here are a couple pictures I took today of the booth and two phones.  The oak booth and rotary 1C1 next to it we've had for quite a few years now now.

I wanted to point out the Burled Walnut Uniphone Number 1 I got today in a group of freebies which came the day after the switchboard below, given me by its seller. It is rare in that it has the elusive NF handset (instead of NU or F1). In that handset is a D96337 transmitter. A very rare phone, and a rare transmitter used in only some NF handsets. Here is a photo of the entire group - I have cleaned the phone up and it is beautiful, and I will re-post a later photo in a day or so.

The NF is the rarest of the Uniphone handsets, and was only used for a year or so until the change-over to the NU handset and then the final change-over to the F1 handset.

It is beautiful, and I have been looking for one for literally years.!  Even rarer for it is to have the D96337 transmitter. There aren't many in existance, and the best thing, it was FREE!.

The phone in question is at the bottom of the group shown in the photo. All were free.

Re: Northern Electric N1317A Switchboard

Found the day before the phones listed above. I did pay $400 for the switchboard, but was also given a number of items along with it, including 3 mag. subsets, parts, etc. So, I was happy. Once I got home, I was called by the fellow which was when the items above were given to me. So, I was very pleased with the deal, and it capped off the incredible weekend of acquisitions I had.

I have managed to locate drawings for it, and also replacement keys for those broken on the board. The incredible co-incidence it the board was from the Kingston, PEI Independent Telephone Company for which I have had a stock certificate for several years..

All the broken switches have now been replaced - One, I still have to figure out its wiring.

So, together, they will make a great display along with my 1240D, SB-22/PT military board and 555 boards. This one will be hooked up and displayed with a magneto set!

Wow - This month's Find of the Month #1 will certainly be an interesting choice - so many many wonderful choices and from so many different decades of "phone-dom", as well as so many different areas of representation!

I have never actually seen one of these in person. I have no room for a phone booth in my wife's house (none in the phone room either ;)) but for this I know she would surely make an exception for. Okay, maybe not. I keep going back and checking out the pictures. What a find!....Doug

>edit< I edited your post slightly Doug to help ensure that things are fair for all competitors. Like other items here on the Find of the Month, some would have absolutely no interest in a phone booth while others (me included), and obscure phone booth find is terrific! (I have a couple of booths on my back deck as there is no way they would be allowed inside, even in the dead of winter!)

Thanks Doug!  Since those photos I got an older 60s TT singleslot upper housing to put on the original 66 lower housing in the booth, it looks REALLY nice in there.  I still haven't gotten a chance to clean it up(work has kept me busy) but when I do I'll take better photos(and details).  I discovered the ballast for the Circline lamp in the ceiling is bad, I'm excited for when I get a replacement.  I'll be able to take a picture of it actually lit up!  If you ever get over to my neck of the woods, be sure to let me know, you can stop by and see it in person :)
