Well Dan, if it wasn't you, somebody did mention reversing the wires.  I was considering first  trying  that right here at the jack at the same time I pull the spare pairs wires off of it and then heading to the SNI if the problem continues. 

I'll be back with a report after I've made the changes.

Thanks Donna, that's kind of such an obvious thing to try that I hadn't thought of it. 
Today is a disaster recovery day after the party so once the place is back in order maybe I'll give 611 a buzz.

ralph..... o i love recovery days! means it was a good party.   ya, i was so stuck on inductive trouble, did not even consider physical trouble. a cross or unbalance on the telco pair might possibly be causing your trouble.  one of the pitfalls when shooting trouble is "tunnel vision".

My neighborhood is overrun with tree squirrels.  Outside trouble is not out of the question.  I'll have the telco test their side and report back.
