I now have a corner to put this solid oak telephone bench so I pulled it out of the basement and have it on display. The phone sits on a arm that swivels. In the pictures there is a WECO 51AL on it. Other round base phones such as a 102 or Federal Grab-A-Phone also fit. A 302 does not fit.

The bench is stored under the desk and when stored it sits on rails which keeps it slightly above the floor which allows for easy storage and removal of the bench. There's also a shelf for telephone books.

Nice!  I recommend using some Howard's Restore-A-Finish on it.  Easy to use, no stripping or sanding needed, and will make it look like a million bucks!
The idea that a four-year degree is the only path to worthwhile knowledge is insane.

You're right. It's on my list to do.
