Maybe Today We Will Get Out?

Cabin Fever has set in, but we may get a reprieve later today. At 3 am, the plow finally went by running a first path through the drifts. It left 8 foot banks along the road in front. Somewhere buried under that bank is our mailbox - Linda is about to go prospecting to find it!

Roads are only open one path, but it is a huge improvement. Still most of the Island is shut down as the plows do their work. CBC says today that a record 86.8 centimeters of snow in the past 34 hours of storm.

At 7:40 am, the Visser's giant 4WD tractor and snow-blower blew a path down our driveway! Thank God, for great neighbours and plow drivers! We still have tons of shoveling to do around the cars, but at least we have a path out to the road!

Last photo is looking up the road, cleared out to a single lane - more like a cow-path but a lot better than is had been for the past 48 hours! :)

One thing for certain, today is a lovely day compared to the last two!

Greetings from the National Capitol Region!

"Only" about 4" here, but enough to shut Uncle Sam down for the day.

Today it is 82 degrees here in South Florida. Thursday it is supposed to be down to 32 degrees! It is supposed to stay around 40 for a week. I guess winter is here!

Reading the PEI Guardian Newspaper this morning, we discovered that the paper has nicknamed it. We had Hurricane Juan in Sept 2003, followed by White Juan in Feb 3004, so following the trend, and since it struck us on Valentine's Day this year, whey have nicknamed it.... Wait for this....
Don Juan!

Sounds like you need to consider opening up a winter branch of the museum in Florida.

By the way, what's a centimeter? Is that one of those bugs with a hundred legs?

Montague RCMP Issued the Following Bulletin today on their Facebook Page:

QuoteFrom Facebook: Wanted:

February 19, 2015, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island...The Nova Scotia RCMP (on their Facebook page) yesterday asked for the public's assistance in apprehending Old Man Winter.

As an update, today a known associate of Old Man Winter's, Frosty the Snowman, was seen in Montague with a broom stick in his hand. He was running here and there, all around the square, sayin, "catch me if you can". As you know the Mounties always get their man. So when Frosty ran down the streets of town, right to the traffic cop, he only paused a moment, when he heard Cst. Baker holler, "stop!" Cst. Baker was able to apprehend Frosty, disarm him of his broomstick and detain him. Frosty was taken to the Montague office where he was quickly interrogated.

Currently the interview is ongoing, it appears that Frosty is sweating under the pressure.

The P.E.I. RCMP strongly suspect that on Sunday past Old Man Winter snuck across the bridge when it was closed and reeked havoc on our Island. Please be on the lookout for him and if you see him stay inside as he may be armed with ice pellets.

We are working on this matter and the Investigation is continuing....
