Interesting triple ringer box

Has anyone seen one of those before? It looks like a genuine WE item and still has the tag inside. What would something like that have been used for, a display in a sales office maybe?

Could have been used for alarms in a central office, or anywhere you had three incoming lines. Before there were lamps to indicate which line to answer, it was necessary to have different sounding ringers to know which line was ringing.
