I hadn't planned to collect any of the larger Telechrons, but I found this one at an antique shop here in Halifax for a very good price so snapped it up.  This one was manufactured between 1932 - 1938.  It's in fantastic condition, with superficial scratches and a small scratch on the face that's barely noticeable.  It runs quietly and keeps accurate time but I need to take it apart for a bit of oil and a clean and shine the case up a bit.

That is a beautiful, classic mantle clock. Always loved those. If I ever own a mantle I will definitely put one of those on it!

They are lovely old clocks, aren't they?  Right now I have it atop my electric fireplace and am relocating my AirLux to my bedroom, but the fireplace is too large really and the poor clock looks a bit on the tiny side.

Very nice clock!  I wanted to mention this product for touch ups where the finish might be scratched.  my grandparents and parents would use this.  It has a bit of oil that hides scratches, but can be removed when a full refinish is done.

I like that Hydro Electric Commission sticker on the back. Does this clock chime?

Yes, the sticker is great :)  I haven't seen too many Telechrons in Canada.  Most of them on ebay are in the US.  So when I find one locally I'm chuffed.  Unfortunately it doesn't chime, I wish it did.

Ancient Chinese seclet:

When I was young, we had a beautiful Walnut dining room table. Every time it got a scratch, Mom and Dad would rub a shelled walnut on it, and the scratch would disappear - the oils in the walnut did wonders! Simple, cheap, and effective.
