Receiver Volume

An AE 34 I have restored works, but receiver volume is low.  Replaced the handset with one from Old Phone Shop along with the cords prior to completing restore. Not sure what the issue might be.  Should I consider replacing the receiver module?

Was the volume before okay? If so, I would make sure all the contacts are well made.

If it was not well before, I would still clean and check the contacts. Although, if it still does not work I would try another receiver element.
