Just when I think I'm getting the hang of the candlestick prices, something like this throws me off.  Any ideas why this went so high?

I would call this a $250-275 stick, just because of the receiver and thumbwheel.  Does not even have a *229* receiver or ABT markings.  I'm baffled but I will be pulling a couple from the pile if this is any indication of a price trend.

No idea.   It's selling points are (A) it has all of the indications of being an "unmolested" original, (B) single conductor transmitter with a "rough" looking grommet in the cup, (C) 122W OST receiver, (D) solid perch and separate transmitter square back lug and cup, (E) patent dates on the perch, but none of that adds up to $806.00.     It may be another case of the metal 302 scenario that played out on eBay about 20 years ago.    That's back when they were still listing the bidders eBay handles, and 2 potential buyers took bidding to the extreme.     Obviously it was a case of "it's mine, and you can't have it".   The logical selling price went out the window about a half hour before the end of the auction, and it became a 2 person bidding war.    By the time the clocked ticked down, one of the 2 idiots owned a metal 302 for $999.00 USD.   The set wasn't even an early version.   Just a regular run of the mill metal 302.

This 1020-S may be another one of those deals.    Otherwise, I have no idea why it sold for that kind of money.

I agree with you Greg.  I wonder if my 20H would sell for as much.

If either of the 2 high bidders had dropped out, it would have gone for $193.88:

It could have been a case of two bidders setting their sniping software too high not expecting it to go for that much.

Yes, I think you are correct. They might even have placed the bids manually since an auto bid is no different that a manual snipe. I've seem this before and almost got bit one time by placing a high bid (about $100) for a $50 item and someone else went in higher than me and took the overpriced item home. I leaned a lesson on that auction that I've forgotten.

And, it must be that the winner of this stick, c***h, went in even higher that the bidder in second place who got lucky, in a way, by having c***h make that error of going in way too high.

Then, again, might be something special about this stick only those two bidders knew about, but I doubt it . . .

FYI, my 20b is also for sale for the low price of $600!
