Well, at least it's not a lamp!

Conversion, or modern replica?  I emailed the seller and asked if they were sure it was a conversion and not one of those modern replicas.  Either way, they want too much.

I think they may not understand what they're looking at, and they're assuming it has to be old.  The handset cord is precisely the type that comes on these repros, so that, with the TT pad, indicates a newer Crosley.  Even though you're not buying it, you should ask to see a photo of the bottom (and post it).  That will tell the tale.

The seller says it's "weighty" and I'm sure it is when compared to an iPhone.  If they picked up a real metal bodied 302 they would understand the meaning of weighty!

Haven't heard back yet, but I'm pretty sure it's a Crosley.  Most of them go for $59.99 new, and if you look hard enough, you can find them for $39.99.

Definitely a Crosley.

Yup, here they be.  I sent a polite note informing the seller along with a link to the cheapest source I found, and adviced them to change the description and cut the price in half and they may sell it (but not to any collector).  Mr. Helpful in reverse?

Clever, instead of the classic, "That phone is a super rare ________ worth three times what you are asking" you do the opposite.  A good move in my book.

I heard back from the seller, and she actually THANKED me:

QuoteThank you, actually, for the info.  I honestly had no idea!!  :)  It sure seems old.  I'll remove the post.  Thanks!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that isn't an antique phone that's been converted.  It's a Crosley replica.  Change the description and cut the price in half and you may have better luck in selling it.

Maybe she should have turned it into a touch tone lamp.
