I was in the payphone shack looking at some different models of payphone I have and came across a really interesting piece I did not remember having. I have never seen another one. It came from Bob Bartlett's collection. Bob studied payphones for years and made a ton of notes. here is the phone and here are the notes it is a rare piece.

Note no coin return button chute is fixed.

Great stuff, Jim!  Thanks for posting.  This looks like a one-off given the top mounting bracket on the backplate - not fiber like a 233 and no nice rounded corners like the earlier coil mounting plate.  This must be a transition unit, as subset required, but still dual-coil relay.  Your thoughts on the reason this was built?

212G is a dial postpay. Doesn't have a relay.

You need Rons payphone book or Phonecos payphone book same thing. 212G was post pay as was a 210. There were changes in the design between the 210 and the 212. As for 220 it was prior to the 223,220 had no coin return button 223 did. Some were manufactured models some were conversions. 200,203 all manuals. Just like there is a 191,193,195,196,197, and 198 some are post pay some prepay all different and some rare,very rare. Buckets,no buckets coin return button no coin return it just depends on the model. They were all clearly defined models that existed in a new state or by way of refurbish. So there were new 220 and there were refurb all real produced models. Unlike the 174,176,178,177,151,152,74,76 which were all upgrades from specific two piece payphones like 50G,150,161,162,163, etc.
