While this auction was started as a special auction contest because of the unknown reserve, the reserve was met early on at somewhere at or below $250 and being such a nice phone that will now sell, the special contest is hereby being converted to a "Go-For-The-Gold" genuine CRPF Auction Contest! How about that!

Listed in a 10 day auction (with plenty of time left to get guesses in) is a very nice Pink WE 565HK with a 4A setup. It was listed at $50.00 with a Reserve but the reserve has been met so this phone will be sold. Within the first 2 days of the listing, 4 buyers placing 4 bids have increased the price to $67.66 but it should increase over the next 8 days. No internal pictures were posted but the seller said additional images are available by email upon request.

Those who have already placed a guess have one opportunity to guess again so if anyone wants to change their guess, please do so by posting a new reply with the revised guess.

A discussion of the phone can be found on the forum at http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=15746.0

So, once again, who best knows what this phone will sell for when the auction ends.

Absolutely any and all members are very welcome and strongly encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

The seller listed it as a "Western Electric 565HK pink business phone with 4A speakerphone" with the item condition as "Used" and " - - - - " with the auction listing description as "This is a spectacular Western Electric 4A speakerphone with matching Western Electric 565HK 6-button business phone.  The 565HK works perfectly on a 1A2 system, and the 4A speakerphone works flawlessly with it.   The telephone set and the speakerphone components have been painted using Polane paint in Western Electric pink  (-59).  The finish is not nicked nor damaged and shines brightly.  Western Electric only provided the speakerphone in four promoted colors (black, white, moss green and light beige), but they offered kits for the installer to change the color if desired (ivory, red, yellow, light gray and aqua blue).  Since the color of this set is pink, and because all of the components have proper decals and cork anti-slides (see bottom of speaker and transmitter), and because the paint is professionally applied to the telephone set and components equally, I assume this was a special order at a customer's request.  I've heard from other collectors and from former telephone company employees that Western Electric frequently painted equipment to customer specification (with appropriate cost, of course). Included is the 565HK telephone set with matching pink curly handset cord and satin silver 25-pair D50 mounting cord, the 108-type loud speaker set with D20N mounting cord, the 680-type transmitter with D8S mounting cord, the 85B1 power unit and the 85-type connecting block with option plug, and the BSP 512-700-100 (4A speakerphone components, identification, installation, operation and maintenance).  This only requires a 25-pair cable connected to a 1A2 system to work.  It has been tested and works properly.  This is a very rare and unusual piece of telephone history.  This set has been in a collection for many years. Additional photographs are available by email if desired. Please note that VoIP systems which don't include an analog telephone adapter (ATA) might not support rotary dialing. The phone will ring and talk perfectly without the ATA, but it won't dial. Please check with your dial-tone provider; however, most areas of Comcast and Time Warner telephone support rotary dialing. MagicJack does not support rotary dialing. Googling "pulse to tone converter" will list devices which will allow rotary dialing through a VoIP provider."

That's more like what I expected for this phone. Doubled in price in one day from $112 to $250. 4 days to go.

And, the reserve has been met.

Will be interesting to watch his phone in the last 30 seconds of the listing.
